We started off yesterday going to church.....and each time we get to be at church and among all of those folks, and Pastor Niel, I am always reminded of the special nature of that place......like some little treasure up on the hill......my kids love going there and being a part of whatever they can....I do feel for them though, because lately, at times, they want to do activities there and cannot, because it is a weekend that they are with their dad......I guess that comes with the territory......so for now, when we are able we go and enjoy whatever we can.....I then came home and was fortunate enough to sell my bear bin to an appreciative lady that needed it! Having a lovely conversation with her....she knows Gabe from school:) I ran to Walmart quickly and then decided that it was too beautiful to do any of the indoor chores I had planned, and we headed for the Knob in Milford.......I hadn't been in a long time.....and the kids never have.....there were quite a few cars when we got there, we used the trailhead from 209......and we set off.....everywhere I go these days I am struck by how dry everything is......we do need rain at some point for sure......the creek beds have run dry.....the waterfalls...... all of it.....and this trail seemed particularly so......and we climbed and climbed, most of the incline being gradual until the final push.......and that last hill is a doozy indeed.....straight up and a decent length.......but we made it, I was proud of my kiddos, and the top is not too far from that hill, making the climb rewarded fairly instantly;-) so we sat up there for a bit, checking out the view......was thinking I wished I had my hedge clippers, it could use a trim lol...... Some of the view is hindered by the overgrowth......but even with that it is a substantial view of our little town......watching all the comings and goings from up above! We also had some fun exchanges with some nice folks on our way down.....Mads was excited about getting another junior ranger badge after we were done......she was keeping a list of all she had seen to earn the badge, but sadly the ranger was gone when we came out.....she took the disappointment in stride and I told her we will see another one soon! We came home and shortly after the neighbors stopped over and the kids played, and I talked with them.....and then they were kind enough to say they were going to grab pizza and bring it over for dinner, and we had a lovely dinner on the deck......and as I went to bed I just thought how blessed I am.....a totally unexpected Sunday, I just let it unfold......and I was met with such nice and loving people at every turn and such positive experiences.....my kids had a blast too.....just grateful as I begin this week! Looking forward to connecting with some other folks this week and working on my last summer wishes and checking them off;-)
