A reflection of YOU......

I was standing in the kitchen this morning waiting on the coffee and every time I come down the steps, and step foot into the kitchen, and see it, and feel it, I am grateful.....like the oozy kind that comes through every pore:).....and there is such peace in that room now......it is palpable, and when I looked around, and saw the shifts I have made in my home since my divorce, I realized my home now reflects me......and I believe that.....our homes should be decorated in a way that reflects who we are, what we believe, what we feel, our spirit and souls.....all of it....and I have made some small changes, and some huge ones that do that.....I still keep my Christmas tree up in my bedroom....I decorate it for seasons.....I like the light it gives and it is cozy at night.....currently it is all decked out for Valentine's Day:) And my forever goal is for my upstairs to reflect me more too......I did redo my bedroom after he left.....and I like it.....still.....but the upstairs is subject to a more shall we say...."lived in" feel lol:) the kids trappings and mine around....and so that is one of my goals.....I cleaned my daughter's room and cleaned out a lot the other day....and my mom and dad came up the other day to stay with Mads another day while she was home sick, and cleaned up and out Gabe's......which was deeply appreciated.....but I have some painting that needs done, and some more cleaning out to do.....and I am hoping to update the bathrooms at some point....can anybody say pink and white tile in the master lol:) YIKES.....Still scratching my head at that trend, but I know I will get there, bit by bit....and stay here as long as I will.....and every day it feels like MY home.....not my married home.....so much of my mark was always on it anyway.....but my mom made me realize that I have lived here 10 years the other day.....I missed that anniversary.....and gosh so much happened in those 10 years.....the joy of being able to buy this house, and the dreams and work we put in to make it ours.....having our daughter......and being overjoyed about her arrival......Covid and teaching from home.......and then the space in between all that, and the end of our marriage.......and then 4 years of rebuilding and claiming the entire place, and all its responsibilities, as my own......and every day I am grateful to live in such a beautiful home....and that my kids get to play in our great yard.....and that somehow I am able to keep on keeping on, and provide this for them...and I have said many times, I will know when it is time to move or dream another dream for us......that lake house retreat space looming in my vision for us:) But for now making this place shine, and shine well is my goal for wherever it leads us.......and we are off to more than a good start in doing that:) Enjoy your snow day, I am hoping you are cozied in, I actually fell back to sleep this morning, and it was glorious:)
